100% recovery.............
I've been having back pain ever since the accident but I thought it was something that would go away since the trauma doctors told me nothing was wrong with my back or neck.

Since my fall off the roof I have switched Primary Doctors because I felt I wasn't getting the care I needed with my old doctor and her staff lacked personality and compassion.
All I can say is my new doctor is fantastic. Both her and her office staff have been extremely AWESOME.

I explained that my hands were shaking and my legs and feet were feeling numb and tingled all the time. My doctor asked if I ever had an MRI of my back since falling 20ft off my roof. That would be no.
We also found out that they only took images of my head, cervical spine and leg, nothing on a full back.

You can imagine my response when my doctor interpreted the MRI report and told me my spine was in the shape it is and I could not drive or go to work.

(11) Herniated Discs
(1) Veribrea Compression Fracture
(1) Retristhesis Veribrea (Displacement of vertebral body)

Needless to say I was PISSED OFF! All I could do was laugh and cry a little. My doctor wasn't the person to be mad at she was the person that saved my life as I know it. One false move or slip and I could have been paralyzed or worse.

Tuesday I see the Neurosurgeon and hopefully I’ll get a clearer picture of what is going on.

I don’t think I have to say my confidence in my medical treatment so far has been very encouraging. I went from being told that I would make a 100% recovery to being told I wouldn’t be 100% and now this.

RE: 100% recovery.............
Hey dude,

It's annoying that full tests were not conducted when you had your initial injury, but it sounds like some are being done now. As the actual injuries are diagnosed, you can then take measures for rehabilitation on each individually.

That said, as each are diagnosed, and your fears are concerned, you do get upset. That's ok, nobody wants these injuries. All we can do is improve.

Now that the physicial stuff is done, I highly recommend getting a neuropsyc report from the neuropsyc. These give you a comprehensive list of mental strengths and weaknesses, and can explain why you're tired/stressed/can't sleep etc and which were affected the most by the hit to your head.

Brain injuries take on average 2 years to recover, either completely or with longer lasting effects. It's a long time, shit happens.

As for your physical injuries, ignore those docs concerns. All the time we hear stories about people being told "you'll never walk again" or something to that effect. We also hear stories about those very same people overcoming the odds to get back to normal, and now it's time for you to do the same.

For your back/spine injuries - remember that old motto; "Don't take back problems lying down". I'd highly recommend sports rehabilitation. One of the amazing things about the human body is that it can adapt to new problems, to the effect that if it does turn out that you do have permanent back/spine injuries, you can train your back muscles to accomodate and regain your full range of movement and strength.

Still early days yet dude, lets look at the exact problems first and find solutions.

RE: 100% recovery.............
Thanks for the positive note. I'm still going and still trying to do things. I am a very active person so someone telling me to lay down and take it easy is good for some days but not everyday.

Luckily when it gets bad I have a big dog to help me get up the stairs to go to bed after a rough day.
Just got a hot tub and that's providing some temporary relief.

Family and friends have been great support and so has my work. I've been working part time and completely out on temporary disability for t.he past 9 months so I've been very fortunate

Here some exercise tip for back pain.

1)Ankle Pumps—Lie on your back. Move ankles up and down. Repeat 10 times.

2)Heel Slides—Lie on your back. Slowly bend and straighten knee. Repeat 10 times.

3)Abdominal Contraction—Lie on your back with knees bent and hands resting below ribs. Tighten abdominal muscles to squeeze ribs down toward back. Be sure not to hold breath. Hold 5 seconds. Relax. Repeat 10 times.

4)Heel Raises—Stand with weight even on both feet. Slowly raise heels up and down. Repeat 10 times.

5)Single Knee to Chest Stretch—Lie on your back with both knees bent. Hold thigh behind knee and bring one knee up to chest. Hold 20 seconds. Relax. Repeat 5 times on each side.

For your back/spine injuries - bethink that old motto; "Don't booty aback problems lying down". I'd awful acclaim sports rehabilitation. One of the amazing things about the animal anatomy is that it can acclimate to fresh problems, to the after effect that if it does about-face out that you do accept abiding back/spine injuries, you can alternation your aback anatomy to accommodate and achieve your abounding ambit of movement and strength.
